Jim Martin has been catching and eating things he finds at the seashore for 40 years. A bookseller by trade, he has worked as a printer, editor, publisher and writer. His angling and conservation articles have appeared in the Fishsniffer magazine. He currently writes the Noyo Harbor Confidential, a column on fishing and fisheries issues in Mendocino County that appears weekly in the Anderson Valley Advertiser. He is the author of three books, including Wilhelm Reich and the Cold War, winner of the Lou Hochberg award for Excellence in Journalism. He is a member of the Mendocino County Fish & Game Advisory Commission, a panel that advises the Board of Supervisors on fishing and hunting issues. As Media Chair on the Board of Directors of the Northern California Chapter of the Recreational Fishing Alliance, he has kept anglers informed of fishery management issues. RFA is the largest grass-roots recreational fishing lobby in the nation. He serves as the angling representative on the Ft. Bragg region's Marine Protected Areas panel. He is a member of a number of conservation groups for fishermen and divers in California, including the Coastside Fishing Club, Sonoma County Abalone Network, the California Sportfish Protection Alliance and United Anglers. |
